Scripture Reading

Mark 11:24 – “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

Devotional

Whenever we see the word “therefore” in Scripture, it signals an important lesson. In this passage, Jesus teaches His disciples to believe with confidence. The previous day, they had witnessed Jesus curse a fig tree, and by the next morning, it had withered. This miracle was meant to demonstrate the power of faith.

As one Bible teacher once said, “What you believe determines howyou behave.” True belief fuels vision, resilience, endurance, and perseverance. It gives us hope in suffering and strength in trials. Romans 8:28 reminds us, “And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”

Jesus assures us that if we believe, all things are possible. Even when the outcome seems uncertain, God’s will and purpose will always prevail. Belief is not passive-it is active trust, dependence, and surrender to the One who is always faithful.

Yet, doubt often hinders our faith. James 1:6-7 warns, “When you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.”

To better understand belief, consider this example: When you have a headache, you go to the pharmacy to buy a bottle of Tylenol. You believe that the manufacturer has put the right ingredients in the medicine, the pharmacist has labeled it correctly, and the pills will relieve your pain. You take the medication without hesitation, trusting in the process.

If we can place such trust in human hands, how much more should we believe in the Creator of the universe-the One who made all things and has power over life itself? The Bible says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” Moses believed, and he spoke with God face to face. David believed, and he was called a man after God’s heart.

Jesus said, “If you believe, whatever you ask for in prayer, you Will receive.” Today, let us intentionally choose to believe in the faithfulness of God. He is able to grant us the desires of our hearts in His perfect timing. Let us take a double dose of faith, filling our hearts with love, joy, and peace, knowing that our God is able.
