Core Beliefs – Week Two:
Theme: Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human
Scripture Reading:
- “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” – John 1:1
- “For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.” – Colossians 2:9
Devotional Thought
One of the most central truths of our Christian faith is the deity of Jesus Christ. He is not simply a wise teacher, a prophet, or a moral leader—He is God in the flesh. From eternity past, Jesus existed with the Father and the Spirit. Yet, in God’s great plan of redemption, the Word became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14).
Jesus Christ is both fully divine and fully human. This mystery—known as the hypostatic union—is not an optional belief; it is essential to our salvation. Only as God could He bear the full weight of sin and conquer death. Only as man could He stand in our place and represent us before the Father.
When Thomas fell at Jesus’ feet after the resurrection, he proclaimed, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28). That same confession should echo in our hearts today. To know Jesus as Lord is to recognize Him as both Savior and God.
Reflection Questions
- Do I truly acknowledge Jesus as both fully God and fully man in my daily walk?
- How does Christ’s deity give me confidence in His ability to save and sustain me?
- In what ways can I share the truth of who Jesus is with others this week?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus Christ, Your Son, who is fully God and fully man. Thank You that in Him I have forgiveness, life, and hope. Help me to trust Him as Lord of my life and boldly proclaim His deity to a world that needs to know Him. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
