Day’s Reflection: The Revival of Josiah
In a time of spiritual decay and idolatry, King Josiah shines as a rare light. His reign marked one of the greatest revivals in Judah’s history—not because of political reform, but because of a return to God’s Word.
As we look at Josiah’s story in 2 Chronicles 34, we discover a powerful pattern that still speaks to us today:
✅ Found the Book
“Hilkiah the priest found the Book of the Law of the Lord…” (v. 14)
The Word of God was lost—literally hidden in the house of God. When they found it, everything changed.
🔍 Personal check: Has the Bible been “lost” in your life—crowded out by busyness, routine, or distraction?
📖 Read the Book
“When the king heard the words… he tore his robes.” (v. 19)
Josiah didn’t just find it—he listened. And it pierced his heart.
🧠 Reflect: Do you approach Scripture with expectation, ready to be changed?
🙌 Obeyed the Book
“The king stood by his pillar and renewed the covenant…” (v. 31)
Reading without obedience is self-deception. Josiah acted on what he read.
👣 Apply: What is one command or truth you need to live out today?
📢 Shared the Book
“He read in their hearing all the words of the Book…” (v. 30)
He made sure the people heard God’s Word, too. Revival spreads when truth is shared.
🗣️ Encourage: Who can you share God’s Word with this week?
🛡️ Stood on the Word
“As long as he lived, they did not fail to follow the Lord.” (v. 33)
Josiah’s commitment led a nation to worship. He stood firm when it mattered most.
💪 Stand: What compromises do you need to resist in order to stand for God today?
🧎♂️ Prayer:
Lord, help me rediscover the power of Your Word. Open my eyes to see, my ears to hear, and my heart to obey. Give me the courage to stand on Your truth and share it boldly. Let revival begin in me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
