He Makes Peace in Your Borders

By, Rev. Keith Howard

Scripture: Psalm 147:14 (NKJV)

“He makes peace in your borders, and fills you with the finest wheat.”

Reflection:

Life has borders. Not just maps and fences—but invisible lines that surround your heart, your home, your relationships, and your sense of peace. And if we’re honest, those borders can feel under attack: conflict in the family, stress on the job, tension in the soul.

But Psalm 147:14 speaks a powerful promise: God Himself makes peace in your borders. He doesn’t wait until you’ve fixed everything. He steps into the chaos and establishes peace—even in places that feel broken, exposed, or vulnerable.

And then He goes a step further. He doesn’t just calm the storm; He fills you with the finest wheat. He satisfies your deepest needs. Not scraps or leftovers—but the best of what Heaven has.

Supporting Scriptures:

Isaiah 54:13: “All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.”

Isaiah 60:17–18: “Instead of bronze I will bring gold… Violence shall no longer be heard in your land.”

Psalm 33:16–17: “No king is saved by the multitude of an army… Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him.”

**Personal Illustration: A Landscape Fence**

Years ago, I worked for the City of Pompano Beach in the Engineering Division and was the Project Manager for the Atlantic Blvd. Park project, which included extensive landscape development. The contractor planted all of the plants and trees according to the plan, not realizing that many of the shrubs were a feast for iguanas. I was proud of the finished product; everything looked just right. However, one morning, I walked out to find that half of the shrubs had been destroyed—the iguanas had eaten through them. That’s when I realized that we didn’t have a barrier. The landscape architect hadn’t provided any protection for the planted areas.

Right away, I contacted the City Engineer to request a revision to the contract for a fencing system to prevent animal entry. After the fence was installed, the landscape flourished and looked beautiful.

That’s what God wants to do for you. He surrounds your life with His peace so what He planted in you can grow.

Takeaway Thought:

Where you’ve had unrest, God is placing peace. Where there’s been lack, He’s bringing abundance. Trust Him to work in the very borders of your life today.

Today’s Prayer:

Lord, today I give You the borders of my life—my home, my heart, my decisions, my relationships. I ask You to make peace in every place that feels exposed or under pressure. Fill me with the finest wheat—Your wisdom, Your provision, and Your Spirit. I trust You to settle what’s unsettled. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
