We sometimes think God’s silence is rejection. But He’s always working behind the scenes.
I once had the privilege of praying with a dear college classmate who was courageously battling breast cancer. After not having seen each other for a few years, she reached out and asked if I could accompany her for her surgery. I met her and her family at the hospital, and it was clear to me that she was feeling physically shaken. When it was time for her to be prepared for the surgery, she turned to the nurse and asked if I could join her. Thankfully, the nurse agreed.
As we entered the room, my friend began to feel faint, and in that moment, I asked her and the nurse if they believed in prayer. They both shared that they were Christians and the nurse told me about witnessing her mother’s healing from breast cancer, so I asked if we could join hands and pray together—asking for healing and that God’s will be done.
After our prayer, I left the room and decided to treat her family to a BBQ lunch while we waited, knowing it would take a couple of hours. We shared stories and laughter, catching up on the times we enjoyed during our weekends together. It was heartwarming to see smiles amidst the uncertainty.
When we returned to the hospital, we were met with a sight that took our breath away—my friend was out front, jumping up and down with tears of joy streaming down her face. We hadn’t even parked before we rushed over to find out what had happened. Through her tears, she told us the incredible news: there was no cancer to be found at all. They had x-rayed both breasts to ensure everything was clear. The nurse and the doctor had said it was a miracle.
In that moment, it felt as though God was present, answering our prayers in the most profound way. God indeed still answers prayers. 🛐
Prayer:
Father, thank You for always hearing me, even when I don’t see the answers right away. Strengthen my faith to trust in Your perfect timing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
