🦊 Little Foxes — SOS 2:15

By Rev. Keith Howard

Key Verse: “Catch the foxes for us, the little foxes that spoil the vineyards, for our vineyards are in blossom.” — Song of Solomon 2:15 (ESV)

📖 Day’s Focus:

Sometimes, it’s not the big storms that shipwreck our faith—it’s the quiet compromises we ignore. These “little foxes” may look harmless, but left alone, they ruin the vineyard of intimacy we have with Christ.

Today, let’s explore what those little foxes might be and how we can begin to uproot them.

🌿 1. The Eyes of Our Hearts

“…having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which He has called you…” — Ephesians 1:18

We often think of seeing as a physical act, but in the spiritual realm, sight is about discernment. The “eyes of your heart” refer to your spiritual awareness—your ability to see things as God sees them.

🕯️ Selah:

• 🦊 Little Foxes — SOS 2:15Are you spiritually aware of where compromise is creeping in?

• Is your heart sensitive to conviction, or have you grown numb?

📝 Write it Down: “Lord, show me the places where I’ve gone blind to the truth. Awaken the eyes of my heart.”

⚔️ 2. Feeling vs. Faith

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7

Feelings are real, but they aren’t reliable. Many of the foxes in our lives hide behind emotional justifications. We say:

• “I feel like this relationship isn’t that bad.”

• “I just don’t feel close to God lately, so why pray?”

Yet faith calls us higher than emotion. Faith clings to truth when feelings fade.

🔥 Ponder:

• Have your emotions led you to ignore something God has clearly shown you?

• Are you making spiritual decisions based on mood rather than the Word?

📝 Write it Down: “Lord, teach me to walk by faith even when my feelings disagree. Help me trust You more than I trust my emotions.”

🕳️ 3. The Hidden Compromise

“Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!” — Psalm 139:23

Little foxes don’t advertise themselves. They hide. A bit of resentment. A shade of dishonesty. A few minutes in places we shouldn’t be. They often appear manageable—until they start devouring our spiritual fruit.

Illustration: Like termites in the walls, the damage often goes unseen until the structure begins to fall apart.

🧠 Reflect:

• Is there a hidden sin you’ve justified for too long?

• Is there something you’d be ashamed of if it came into the light?

📝 Write it Down: “Lord, reveal the small sins I’ve made peace with. I want nothing to stand between me and You.”

🛠️ 4. Catching the Foxes

“Catch the foxes for us…” — Song of Solomon 2:15

This verse is a partnership—“for us.” Christ invites us to participate in protecting the vineyard. The Spirit empowers, but we cooperate.

🔨 Practical Steps:

• Pray for awareness.

• Confess immediately.

• Cut off access to what tempts.

• Surround yourself with truth and accountability.

📝 Write it Down: “Lord, I want to be a watchman over my vineyard. Help me take small compromises seriously and fight for purity of

✝️ Closing Prayer

“Lord Jesus, the vineyard of my heart belongs to You.

Open my eyes to the little foxes that sneak in unnoticed.

Help me reject compromise and choose truth, even when it’s hard.

I want to walk by faith—not feelings—and live with spiritual clarity.

Keep me close. Keep me clean. Keep me abiding in You. Amen.”

💬 Reflection Questions:

1. What is one “little fox” God is revealing to you today?

2. Where have you relied more on feelings than on faith?

3. What step can you take this week to guard your spiritual vineyard?
